2003 chrysler : Thank you for your email regarding the lack of an external rear stabilizerbar on your 2003 PT Cruiser. Some confusion has been caused by the window sticker listing "StabilizerBar - Rear" on the 2003 PT Cruiser, due to a visual change between the 2003vehicle and prior model years. Please be assured that the function of rollcontrol provided by a rear stabilizer bar still exists on your 2003 PTCruiser, even though you will not see an external stabilizer bar.As an engineering change for the 2003 model year, DaimlerChrysler and oursuppliers have developed technology to allow the internal rear stabilizerbar (which is integrated into the rear axle) to be up-sized to provide alevel of roll control that equals the performance of the previousThank you for your carefully thought out comments on the subject. Theyprovide an intellectual insight into the very depths of your semanticvision.About the depths issue; I would stay out of the deep end of the pool if Iwere you. You show an ability to wade, but don;t try to swim with the bigboys.BTW, nice name there jdoe; did you have to stay up all night to spoof thatone?
2003 chrysler : It is a bit mushy when weighted down. The twist tube that Chrysler istrying to sell as replacing the sway bar was also present on the 2002, alongwith the sway bar. The did get the half shafts equal in the 2003 model, soat least it is not biased toward either direction when accelerating andturning. With the extra low end torque on the GT, you have to help thesteering wheel back to straight ahead when accelerating heavily. It is hard to imagine creating higher performance on a FWD car, then cuttingsuspension components on the rear axle. At least on a front wheel slide ona FWD vehicle, you can power out. If the rear end breaks away, you may justbe along for the ride. It can't be powered back into shape. I guess thatis the PT Cruiser was a rear wheel drive, an equivalent action would be toremove the front sway bar. They managed to leave the front one on the 03.This is a different situation, since the label didn't list them, but: This sounds like when they "devalued" the Eagle Talon. The 1995 EagleTalon models had an ESi model. It has alot of options on itconsidering it was the BASE vehicle. The next year (96 I think), TheEagle Talon ESi was stripped to just an Eagle Talon as a base model. To do this they deleted the rear wiper, the rear spoiler, the 4 wheeldisc to rear wheel drum brakes, the center console lost its cover. THOSE are the obvious changes. Then they dropped the price a fewhundred dollars. A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS. Not even close to the costof all the deleted items. 2003 chrysler : Chrysler has already announced their intentions of including a "lessExpensive" PT Cruiser Turbo into the 2004 line-up. It will have a 180HPengine rather than the 215 HP one in the current model. I can't wait to seewhat other treatment it receives in the name of lower price. On another front, the Stage I Turbo upgrade is now out for the 2003 GT. Itwill have a new, OBDIII PCM and new Injectors. For the $400.00price tag, 2003 GT owners will have the rare opportunity to try out the PCMand injectors that will be stock items in the 2004 model, and report anyproblems to the mother company. Perhaps one of the most expensive Beta Testprograms ever. Honest, I couldn't make this up; the PCM and Injectors arefrom the 2004 models. Chrysler's new motto: "DaimlerChrysler' as Americanas sauerkraut".The dealers don't even have the Code reader/diagnostic scanner to put theVIN number or odometer reading in the PCM yet. I guess they are stillrecovering from the reaming they took in mid year 2002 on the OBDII/EuroStage III diagnostic gear they had to purchase to keep up with the confusionadopted in the middle of the 2002 year. 2003 chrysler : You have to have a real desire to be on the bleeding edge of technology toorder a new PCM that the dealer can't even access, put in a current yearmodel vehicle, and take the chance that the patient rejects the donor. Itis a good thing they let you keep your old PCM and injectors just in case. This past week, Mopar Performance Parts made the decision to re word theirwarranty statement. I applaud the effort; it shows a distinct recognitionof reality. Here it is, in it's original splendor, as publishedsimultaneously with the introduction of the Stage I upgrade:Mopar Performance Parts are sold "as is," without any warranty whatsoever.Implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for aparticular purpose, are excluded. The entire risk as to quality andperformance of such parts is with the buyer. Should such parts provedefective following their purchase, the buyer and not the manufacturer, distributor or retailer, assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicingor repair.Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep® vehicle and parts warranties are voided if thevehicle or parts are used for competition or if they fail as a result ofmodification. 2003 chrysler : Federal and many state laws prohibit the removal, modification or renderinginoperative of any part or element of design affecting emissions of safetyon motor vehicles used for transporting persons or property on a street or"David Little" wrote in message...<SNIP hysterical blather>Fact: Vehicle manufacturers issue running changes to vehicle designs all thetime.Fact: Some of these changes can be described as 'decontenting'. Some arejust engineering changes.Fact: You haven't proven that Chrysler intended to misrepresent theirproduct to the public.Fact: You haven't proven that PT Cruiser handling has been adverselyaffected by this change.Fact: You can add a rear stabilizer bar to your PT Cruiser if you so wishand there will be far less time and effort involved than in creating apetition and a lawsuit.I think the reasonable folks will ignore your petition. And your lawsuitwill fail.Yea Geoff, I think your right on all counts. Having worked on theFINAL POSITION of the assembly line at Chrysler for many years, I haveseen MANY RUNNING CHANGES. Doesn't mean we have to like it, but somepeople love to VENT and others want to be a DAVID and TRY to take onGoliath and HOPE to win.
