chrysler accessories : The car ran fine for the rest of that tank of a gas, and I put in a newtank. Ran it down about 5/8 of a tank and the same thing happened. Theproblem lasted about 5 minutes and then went away. I immediately calledthe dealership and told them the problem. The service manager told meto bring it in. I did and the problem was still occuring. He got inthe car, and revved the engine a while and said that something was wrongwith it. We went on a test drive and he drove it real hard. Problemwent away. He asked what gas I was using. I told him the medium grade, which the manual recommends. He told me to run the cheap gas cause theengines run hotter today than they used to causing more carbon build up,blah, blah, blah... He said I wouldn't have any more problems. So Istarted running the cheap gas. Well guess what, It did it again. Itook it in and they hooked up the computer and no codes were present. That was last week and it has not stalled since then, but I am justwaiting for it to happen again.

chrysler accessories : In the mean time I heard that it might be from the switch off of wintergas to summer gas. I didn't know there was a difference.Does any of this make sense to anyone? I am just wondering what itcould be. I would obviously like to have a car that doesn't stall whiledriving down the road, it seems a little too dangerous to loose allcontrol of the stearing and breaks. If anyony has an idea of what hiscould be, I would greatly appreciate the help. From: ()Subject: Re: 300M Stalling Newsgroups: Date: 2000/04/10 Your dealer is an idiot. I have a 97 Intrepid with a 3.5l in it, and I cansay this after having some similair experiances with my car. #1 Run hightest no matter what. #2, make sure that the gas you buy has not gotMethanol in it. It will gum up the injectors very quickly. I was havingstalling problems with my car till I got ticked off, bought new plugs, afterrunning some feul injection cleaner through it and running it till it wasalmost dry, then changed the plugs, and keep high test in it, lo and behold,it never stalled anymore. Run midgrade for one tank and it runs like crapagain. I have tried over a dozen different gas stations, so it's not just abad tank of gas, my car seems to need the 91 or higher to run it's best.

The car justcompensates by retarding the timing a bit. I'm not sure what the guy istalking about. The lower the octane, the hotter the combustion (all otherthings remaining the same).

chrysler accessories : I just bought a 97 Cherokee. I want to mount the spare on the back ofthe vehicle with one of those tubular swing-arm deals. I called thedealer, who quoted me around $350 for the parts, but said that it isso hard to do that it would require $800 or more in labor. This seemsoutrageous to me! Does anyone have one of these, and if you do howdifficult was it to install? If there is no welding involved, I'd behappy to tackle it myself...-- ________________________________________ _____________________alan petersen, unix systems university computing services (213)740-4558 university of southern california I think there's a Mopar rear-tire mount coming in '98. Have the manufacturer send you a copy of the installsheets. I doubt you will find welding required. Evaluate the job yourselffrom the sheets. However, if it's a Mopar bracket, they may hesitate oshowing you the sheet since their SOOO eager to get your money. Hopefullyyou'll have a nice parts guy helping you.

chrysler accessories : To All,Was wondering if any here on the NG has purchased a pair of the black plasticChrysler (In their accessories Catalog) door sill guards for their TJ's. I did,and am having a problem with the rubber weatherstripping at the bottom of thedriver's door dislodging from its track. In other words when you shut the doorand look at it from the outside, you see the weatherstrip bulging out at thebotom of the door. Dealer says that this is caused from the door sill guard, since they have actually replaced the weatherstripping on that door twice. Isuppose it makes sense to me. But, one would think that the big C, would havetested this out before selling it. Anyway, dealer says they'll contact ChryslerAccessories Dept. with the complaint and get back with me soon. Any thoughts onthis. I guess I just needed to vent a 'lil. Thanks for listening. (P>S>Ironically the pass. side hasn't done this...maybe from lack of use?)Same here. Have had the Mopar door sill guards for 9 months (15,000miles), and no problems. IMO, the Mopar door sill guards are of a betterdesign than the others available, and they are reasonably priced. Can'tsay this about many of the Mopar accessories!
