chrysler concorde : I just got a 1999 Concorde which I truly love. I have a fewquestions, comments and concerns. While performance is not bad, I do wish the Concorde had the 3.5engine because the performance of the 3.2 on my car does not match upto the performance test published on the 1998 model. I.E. the 0 - 60times were published as 8.1 seconds and the quarter mile time 16seconds flat! Outstanding, but do not believe it! I only testedonce, but my car takes 10.77 seconds (up a very slight hill) to get to60 mph. I have not tested the quarter mile but I suspect it would bein the mid 17's. These are not BAD times but I don't believe thatthey are as good as the old 3.5 that this engine replaced! On a relative scale of 1 to 10, if I assign a value of 10 to my 1992Mercury Cougar, the overall handling of the Concorde would beabout an 8. The Cougar wins hands down in cornering. There is a fairamount of lean in the corners with the Concorde, but the extratraction of the front wheel design and traction control are better onthe street.

chrysler concorde : Hello,I have a '00 chrysler Concorde LX. I may want to take off the "Concorde"lettering on the trunk, and leave it blank or possibly put on theChrysler "Wings" that came on the 2002 and maybe 2001. Wil the Wingsfit on my car? How easy is it to take off the lettering, how easy toapply the wings? How do you guys think it would look with nothing? Thanks!I have not done it, but have seen posts saying that you heat the lettersreasonably warm with a hair blower to soften the adhesive and take thin, strong string (maybe fishing line, but I'm not sure) and pull itunderneath each letter to sever the adhesive bond. This doesn't damagethe paint.Bill Putney(to reply by e-mail, replace the last letter of the alphabet in myaddress with the first letter of the alphabet)I waited until a nice warm day, then got a nail under the leters (be verycareful) and they come right off with a little work. Used lighter fluid toclean up any left on residue (non-smoker!) Vehicle is a '99 Intrepid. Thanks for correcting that - I knew fishing line wasn't right, but Icouldn't remember what was.

chrysler concorde : I currently drive a 1995 Chrysler Concorde, it has 62,000 miles on it (Icommute about 140 miles a few days a week). The car is everything I wantin a vehicle. My problem is that I'm wondering if now is the time to tradeit in on another car. It has a 75,000 transferrable Chrysler warranty onit. As I expect that six months will cart me over the 75,000mi mark I'mthinking I should replace it now. Also I've been told that the resalevalue of a car drops much faster after 50,000 miles (ie: it's not a staticcurve between miles and value)My concern is that I won't find another one that I like as well. I'mlooking at program cars, and a nearby dealer has a 1996 Intrepid ES that is"loaded"... that is to say it has almost all the options the Concorde has. It also has 23,000 miles on it. The drawback is that I prefer the 3.3L(27 miles to the gallon!) and the ES has the 3.5.I've heard that both reliability and resale value are much higher on theConcorde, so I'm leary about getting an Intrepid (Or Eagle Vision, whichI'd also consider, I suppose).

chrysler concorde : I'm hoping to find someone out there who has had a similar experience andcan offer a recommendation. I suppose my options are this:1. Keep the Concorde untill I kill it. I expect to continue putting about32,000 miles a year on it - I've had not a single problem yet, but how longwill it last?2. Get the Intrepid ES and swap it out again around the same mileage point.Any help in this is _greatly_ appreciated. Newsgroups: Date: 1997/04/13 Jason wrote:You might want to wait for the '98 Concordes. You can either buy one ofthese or pick up a late '97 version. Buying the new model does bringwith it some risks, but your car will not seem to age as quickly. Onthe other hand, buying a '97 with the "old" body style could save yousome bucks. The 3.5 is so much more powerful though! And it's probably got AutoStick too -- try it! I really like it. The black on white gauges are also very slick. Add in nice styling and fog lights, and I think the Intrepid ES 3.5 is the best of all the LHs.

chrysler concorde : If you get an Intrepid made at Bramlea, there's no reason why it should be less reliable than a Concorde made there. (Intrepids were also made at Newark DE for some of the model years.)Yes, the 3.5L has more power. You notice it mostly on hills withcargo/multiple passengers. The 3.3L that I have now will out accelerate a3.5, though. (I've tried a few times with a friend who has a 3.5 Intrepidof the same year)At any rate, the reason I think a 3.5 is a drawback is the mileagedegredation. I enjoy getting 27mpg. Last year my tax write off formileage was around $8,000. If I were to own a vehicle that caused theexpense of driving to go up (and it would tremendously) then I'm earningless. You could do the math, 30,000 miles a year, 27 miles to the gallonvs. 24(or so). The 31 cent per mile (now 31.5) that you can use for taxreasons doesn't change whether you get 40mpg or 2mpg.It _is_ nice to be able to have five people in the car and not notice areal preformance loss, but I'm almost always driving alone or with oneperson.
