chrysler dodge : The transmission in my dad's 1993 Dodge Intrepid is almost shot, despite having only 24,000 miles since purchased new. Since he checkedthe 3 year/ 30,000 mile warranty, it is not covered under the factorywarranty. My friend's brother bought a 1995 Chrysler LH sedan new, andthe transmission in it blew out at 7,000 miles. Luckily for him, he wasstill covered by the factory warranty. From what I know, these carsshare identical drive trains, and I have heard from other owners ofthese cars having transmission problems also. Is or was there a recallon these cars because of tranmission problems? If not, what recoursedoes my dad have? The dealer where the car was purchased could onlyoffer their smypathies and the Chrysler 800 number ( it is a joke sinceI tried for 5 straight days without getting through ). How could alarge corporation such as Chrysler sell such lousy products to thepublic and claim to be a good car company? I myself drive a 1983 Toyotawhich still runs perfect with over 180,000 miles on original engine andtrans. Needless to say, we will never consider buying another Chryslerproduct again. I welcome any comments or suggestions, and if anyone has the e-mailaddress to any Chrysler/Dodge executives, please do me a favor andforward this letter to them.
chrysler dodge : <snip>I have a '94 Intrepid, and I was on the brink of a problem, butsomehow got spared. I started having problems shifting into reverse.IIt just wouldn't come out of neatral into reverse! so I checked thefluid level and it was really low. Filled it and two days later, itwouldn't shift higher than second gear. Low on fluid again. Turns outit was a leaking hose. Replaced it. all okay for two weeks, then whenI slowed down to stop, it would downshift really hard at about 5mph,as though it were actually trying to go into reverse. I believe itreally was...Before I got it to the dealer again, the problem cleared itself up andnever recurred. that was about 10,000 miles ago. Aside from that, I love my Intrepid Perhaps a class action suit is on the way though. A garage guy told mehe gets lots of Chrysler tranny business in the winter when there'ssnow on the ground. This is a sad problem that Chrysler can't fix these problems after 9 years in production . This is serious and they better take a close look at it soon if they want to have any semblance of a reputation left . Instead of worrying about building new V6's they should be working on a 4 speed that will last over 100000 miles . My solution would be to look to see if there is any way to add an extra gear to the existing 3 speed which has alot less problems . chrysler dodge : Glen Grant wrote:its amazing that people talk alot about something they know littleabout. i have seen many 96 caravans with 60k+ with no trans problems. Its funny, all I read about are folks whose trannys go at such-and-suchmiles, you'd think all ChryCo trannys are disposable, but these arenothing compared to the literal millions of trannys that outlived thevehicles they came in. I read the same thing in the Ford newsgroup, "myWindstar blew the tranny at 15k, so they're ALL no good", same with GM. In reality, I see equal numbers of other makes than ChryCo cars parkedoutside transmission shops. That may indeed be true, but Chrysler automatic transmissions USED to bethe best and rarely failed. I am very thankful my LeBaron convertiblehas the old reliable 3 speed automatic. A coworker with the 4-speedautomatic had to have hers redone (under warranty) with less than 36,000miles on it.Duk H. Kim wrote:sell your chrysler and dont ever post to this group again. is that whatyou looking for?if he has a 30,000 mile warranty then why would it not be covered with24,000 miles on the vehicle? chrysler dodge : Hello all... I just picked up on this newsgroup a week or two ago, and Ijust started as a Sales Rep. for Chrysler three weeks ago. I wanted toknow what convinced you to buy a Mopar product. Did the sales person saysomething that influenced you, was there something specific (option, feature, etc.) that convinced you to buy Chrysler as opposed to thecompetition, have you just "always" bought Chrysler, etc...c) What is your favorite(s) feature(s) about your Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge?e) Was the vehicle, in your opinion, a good value for the money?f) Did the sale rep. do a thorough job presenting the car to you? Didhe/she miss certain features? Or point out things you were not aware of?I have noticed in the relatively short period of time that I have beenselling cars that Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge owners are very dedicated. :-) A lot of folks replace their Dakota with another Dakota (or they step upto the Ram), Aries owners step up to the Stratus, etc. Personally, I wantto trade my Caravan in for a Neon.-- Marc Konchinsky, 08-02-72Chief Party Arranger for Great Times D.J. When I walk into a dealership, I usually know more about the car thanthe salesperson does, mainly because I've spent the last few months researching every little bit of info I can dig up about that oneparticular automobile, whereas the salesperson will only have a general knowledge of the entire product line, with only a fewexceptions. Sometimes I'll bounce stuff off of the salesperson, especially for things that are hard to find, such as what options changed from last year to this year, etc. Usually, all I use the salesperson for is test drives and tonegotiate a good price. That said, if I do find a knowledgable salesperson who is genuinely helpful and not trying to rip me off and getting in my way the whole time, I will seek out that salesperson for my next purchase, so they get the commision, rather thanthe scumbag who just wants to play head games.
