chrysler lebaron : Some kits also include a lead that you can (optionally) Y-splice into a parking lamp wire. This will cause your full lighting system tocome on so you don't "forget" to turn them on at night. I prefer notto run tail, dash and side marker lights during the day.The regular headlight switch will work as normal, and should be turnedon at dusk to activate your tail, side marker and dash lights if youdon't connect the parking light lead. ---------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Mike Knox | E-Mail: Brampton, Ontario | CANADA | ---------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- The kits I'm aware of supply full power to the low beams. Low beamsare not supposed to be "annoying" at night, and in the day time theycertainly are not so. In Canada, many autos use full-power low beamsystems to comply with DRL legislation (in addition to reduced-voltagehigh beam systems and others).I built a reduced-voltage high beam kit out of some relays and bigceramic resistors for my last vehicle (GMC Jimmy). I had to mountthe resistors in a suspended metal bracket because they got HOT. Idid the math and got resistors rated well in excess of the powerthey would be handling, but they still made me nervous about how hotthey got.

chrysler lebaron : I need PROOF that the Chrysler Lebaron in 1991 had a sailcloth convertibletop the insurance company will not replace it with the silcloth I had theyclaim that Chrysler only shipped a low end vinyl (sailcloith is a high endvinyl) with the roof and the idiots at Speedy auto glass have tossed out myoriginal roof. Anyone know of any way that I can get genuine or athorativeinformation?PS I have a 89 Pontiac Tans Am for sale, red and in immaculate condition, clear title washington state.they very well might have but the parts are slowly being discontiuedand there might have been a part superseded meaning the first cover isno longer availble and this might be all the can be had till they runoutThe VIN will have the "trim class" of the car, such as Highline (base), Luxury(LX), or Premium (GTC). You may be able to convince them your car had a extracost trim class and warrants the extra cost top.I have the original dealer's brochure from 1991 (when I bought my LeBaron). Itlists "white", or "black" as "standard top" and "sandstone", "Dark Grey", and"other colors" available for "extra cost options".

chrysler lebaron : I have a 1988 Chrysler Lebaron (2.5 L...Non-Turbo) with an automatic FWDtransmission and 143,000 miles. When the car is cold, the transmissionhas trouble shifting out of 1st gear into 2nd and etc. However, oncewarmed up...in about 2-3 miles...everything works fine and shifts well. This happened about 6 months ago and I "cured" it by changing the fluidand putting in a new filter myself along with some Trans-X.. The fluidwas a little dirty and there was a few metal shavings in the pan....butnothing major. Here is where I am confused. The owners manual states in 4 places that Ican have "the bands adjusted" at the time of transmission fluid and filterreplacement.But...upon calling my local Chrysler dealer they said that there isNOTHING to adjust. They said I would have to put in a rebuilttransmission because the seals are probably shot and that a fluid andfilter change may not do any good.My question: 1. _IS_ a "band adjustment" possible on this transmissionand, if so, what is the approximate cost? You have two band adjustments on your 413 (3 spd) trans. One isinside the pan and the other can be accessed from the outside on the case. In the svc. manual there is a section on this. I would recommend gettinga manual and looking it up because there is a specific torque that youtake each band to and then back off X amount of turns and that puts theproper adjustment on them.

chrysler lebaron : I just bought an '87 LeBaron Convertible with a remanufactured 2.5L n/amotor in it. I guess the motor was put in at 71K and the car now has 84K onit. Are these remanufactured motors any good? Can I expect it to last? Itlooks clean, has all new seals, but looks like theres a small amount of oilleaking from what I would consider to be the "cam seal" or the black nob onthe right top side of the motor coming off the valve cover. I'll probablyjust seal that up with some RTV sealant... but how good are these types ofmotors? 100,000 or more?My next (and last) question is concerning tires. I also currently have an'86 Buick Century in my garage with 195/70/14's that I just put on it. Thecar is kind of sitting for now, waiting for the winter. Can I swap thesestock GM rims (nothing fancy, they are hub-capped) onto my LeBaron withoutbringing two cars to a tire shop and swapping them? Both a 5-bolt and 14inch wheels... Before I try it and waste time, I thought I'd ask around.

chrysler lebaron : I having a couple hard to diagnose problems on my otherwise "joy to own" 1986 Chrysler Lebaron GTS (Lancer look-alike) and would appreciate any advise on the problems:'86 Chrysler Lebaron GTS2.5 Liter Non-turbo, 65,000 trouble free miles (relatively :)______________________1. Rough Idle that seems to come and go. Sometimes while at a traffic light the engine will rev to 1500 rpm and then back to 800 rpm. My tach has a short so it doesn't always work so I don't know how high it gets all the time though I'm sure it doesn't go past 2500 rpm. On a good day it will idle at 900-1000rpm.My mechanic has said it can be caused by either; (a) bad Idle speed motor or (b) throttle position sensor. Both of these parts are non returnable to the dealer so its "hit or miss." Which do you think it is? Anything else that may cause these problems? Also, the engine mounts are bad and will be changed soon. That should lower the engine vibration.2. Tachometer works on and off. Is it electrically controlled or is it mechanical. (I have regular analog gauges) How do I get to the back of the tach? Do I have to take apart the dash?
