chrysler new yorker : I'm trying to help my father find a buyer for his car, a1990 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue. Light metallic blue, blue soft-touch leather interior, great condition insideand out. Loaded with options, I don't recall everythingbut I know it has AC, cruise, power locks/windows, V6,Just turned 70k miles. Always garaged, very reliable.I really like the soft-touch leather interior, much softerand more pillowy than the leather in my Jeep. This is a realsharp car, not quite as large as a full-size luxo-barge like aLincoln Town Car or Ford Crown Vic but roomy and comfortablenontheless and has front wheel drive so it's better in the snow.My mother has a very similar Chrysler Imperial she's happywith, and my father had a similar New Yorker before hebought this one. He liked his first New Yorker enough to buyanother and would probably keep this one if he didn't wantsomething larger. They seem like great cars. He's asking $5850 for it, negotiable. He's been offered $4500from a used-car dealer so it must be worth $5500 or so.If you have any questions give him a call:Chuck Frahm414-886-5810Racine, WI
chrysler new yorker : Here is some information from an article about the New Yorker andChrysler LHS that was in the Toronto Star.BTW: The LHS was originally done as a specially painted and equippedsneak preview car for the 1991 Detroit auto show. The responsewas so favorable that they decided to make the LHS variant of theNew Yorker.Base engine is the 3.5 liter SOHC V6 @ 214 HP with the 4 speedautomatic. Chrysler has announced an optional engine foravailability in late 1995. It will be a 4.0 liter 32 valve DOHCaluminum block V8 (yes V8) which currently powers the Thunderboltconcept car. It will be rated at 270 horsepower.Overall length is 207.4 inches, 5 inches longer than the Concordeand 7 inches longer than the Intrepid/Vision. Wheelbase the sameas the rest of the LH cars at 113.0 inches. Suspension getsrevised bushing for the rear trailing arms and subframe mounts toreduce harshness. Chrysler reportedly designed the roof on these things so that itis impossible to put a vinyl landau type roof on (about time).Between the new roof line and the added length of the car, therear seat is moved back about 3 inches farther than in the otherLH cars. chrysler new yorker : --------------7DFB7EE7358E5A9D226D3436Co ntent-Type: text/plain; charset=us-asciiContent-Transfer-Encodin g: 7bitI have a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker. It has 129,000 miles on it. Thissummer it has been performing poorly. While driving (with the A/C on)the engine intermittently dies. Not until twenty minutes later (and theA/C off) does the car start up again. It got so bad that at one point that the car wouldn't start until twentyfour hours later. I managed to bring it to my mechanic. He mentionedthe possibility of the computer needing replacement. He wasn't sure.He said that it could be a number of things. The computer is expensive,so we went with a cheaper alternative. Needless to say the car drovefine for about two weeks. But then it started to act up again. So mywife (who uses the car most of the time) noticed that with the A/C offthe problem is less likely to happen. So for most of the summer we drove with the windows down. This week, however, I noticed the car failing to accelerate. For example: thelight turns green I hit the gas the pickup is good, but after say 25miles an hour the car hesitates (as if a loss in pressure somewhere). Iend up pumping the gas petal for fear of the engine turning off. chrysler new yorker : --------------7DFB7EE7358E5A9D226D3436Co ntent-Type: text/html; charset=us-asciiContent-Transfer-Encodin g: 7bit<HTML><FONT SIZE=-1>I have a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker. This land barge is inreally good shape, although the engine bothers me to some extent. It has a 331 Hemi that runs, but poorly. Can this engine beserviced? I am concerned about the rings and/or valves more thananything else, as well as the 6 volt electrical system. Transmissionseems to shift fine, etc.The body is perfect, except, of course, the paint. The full sizecouch seats are in good shape, as is the 5,000 lbs of interior chrome.I'm not concerned about anything other than the engine. Is isservicable? Not too much to be found on the internet about thisparticular model.________________________________________ ______________________________Posted Via Uncensored-News.Com - Still Only $9.95 - With NINE Servers In California And Texas - The Worlds Uncensored News SourceWhat a nice change it is to be reading about neat old Mopars in this groupin stead of Blakean whingeing about magical self-exploding windows onnonexistent minivans. The 331 is one of the early Hemi engines generally referred to as "Whale"engines (the later, rather better-known Hemis of the late '60s and early'70s were "Elephant" engines). Certainly there is no problem obtainingwhatever mechanical parts you will require to refurbish this engine. Youwon't likely find them at Pep Boys, but you shouldn't be buying anythingbut cheap oil there, anyhow. NAPA will happily sell you a surprisinglylarge percentage of what you need, from hard parts to gaskets. As to the6v electrics, likewise no problem here. If you require a rebuild of aparticular unit (starter, generator) then e-mail me by adding "dot e d u"to the end of my e-mail address above, and I will refer to you to a verycompetent rebuilder. A brand-new voltage regulator, battery, and correctlarge-gauge 6V battery cables can be had from NAPA as well.
