gmc grills : I'm in the market for a truck and have narrowed it down to either aChevy or GMC. Since, they're both GM trucks, I'm wondering what arethe differences between both? Is one particularly better than theother??And how far back do these two trucks go in terms if similarity? Iremember seeing Sierras and Silverados pretty much looking alike asfar back as the mid 90's.I can buy new, but I'm also looking at used so I'm trying to getfamiliar with year/model types in case I decide to buy used.Reading about the new 2003 Silverado and Sierra, it seems that finallythese cousins will go their separate ways, at least in terms of bodystyling. Pick the one youwant. I personally like the GMC grille better, but I bought a 94 Chevybecause it was the best deal on a used unit. The trucks are identical. Anyways... I always thought they were essentially the same except forminor cosmetic differences. For instance, the grills of same year can bedifferent, and I heard the headlight shape was different on the Chevy's for2003 models. Don't quote me on any of this though.. I don't actually think I knowwhat I'm talking about, them's just my assumptions. I used to drive a '88GMC, and when people refered to it as a Chevy I always pointed out thedifference in the amount of letters. Couldn't resist doing it again...
gmc grills : Choke,Be aware that if you buy a GMC, you have to take the truck to a GMC dealerfor any warranty work. Chevy dealers will not work on GMC trucks. I foughtwith GM on this for almost 3 years. I had to drive an extra 2 hours to getto a GMC dealer because the Chevy dealer would not work on my GMC.If my memory serves me correct, in the 70's, GMC's were marketed as a heavyduty version of the Chevy. That has changed now, and the trucks are 99% thesame. I believe now only the grills and emblems are different.No longer true. gmc grills : Where are you located? The yards in my area tend to have aselection of late A1 American Rabbits. Finding a whole grillintact is going to be tough, but the lights and other partsmight be there.I probably have all the parts you need in my spares for therace car, but I'd rather get replacements for my stockbefore I go giving/selling those to others. I know I don'thave any parking lights that aren't cracked. All of my partscars had some front end damage, and the screw lugs on theback were broken on all of the parking lights I have. All mygrills are GTI grills and are cracked/damaged somehow. JBWeld has "fixed" them to the point where they pass the 75/75appearance rule (look good from 75 feet away at 75 miles perhour), which is all I need for the racecar.I'm in north FL, Gainesville. Actually, there was a rabbit in the JY hereabout 1 month before I had the accident... I was noticing that it had aPERFECT body and that the turn signals and grille were like new...unfortunatley at the time I had little need for another grille (my rabbitthat doesn't work needs a grille... but I don't see sinking money intocosmetics when I don't know that I will ever get it running)... Anyhow, Iwent back after the accident and they had already crushed that car :( maybethere will be another one there again soon.
