gmc trucks : I looked at Chevys and GMCs extensively before deciding to lease the Chevybecause it was a little cheaper based on residual value. I think this post isbaloney.Come on Tim dont kid yourself. Both the new GMCs and Chevys have the same NEWmotor.Useing the new Silverado/Sierra for comparison you've got that backwards. Onthe base models the options are exactly the same but the Sierra still cost alittle more. However on the SLT/LT trucks the Chevy actually has more optionsincluded in the package. (Leather Bucket seats in the chevy compared to theLeather bench seat in the Sierra.)Aww, it doesn't really matter. I still get my trucks for about $6000 lessthan what non GM employees pay so it doesn't really matter if the sierra isa couple hundred more, I still get it for less.Aww, it doesn't really matter. I still get my trucks for about $6000 lessthan what non GM employees pay so it doesn't really matter if the sierra isa couple hundred more, I still get it for less.So I guess your a GMO/ GMS buyer to huh? I really liked the oldoption1/option2 system better, but still none of the ordinary public can eventouch the discount of some of the more pricier GM vehicles. My LT Silveradowas just a hair under 33k and I picked it up for $28k, thats only 5thousandoff, so I dont know how you got 6k unless you used some other rebate program aswell or maybe cash back from a GM card???

gmc trucks : Not sure I want to buy a Chev either - both from the same barrel! Orsame pair of pants, different pockets!I find this interesting. The last new vehicle I bought was a 1986 ElCamino and it is the only new vehicle that did not have to ever go backto the dealer for warranty work. Of course it WAS assembled in Mexico.Sorry you are having problems with your GMC trucks. Just for the record Ipurchased a new 1997 GMC truck in December. It now has a little over10,000 miles. Only problems so far was some lose front grill work. Idon't work for GM so I have no vested interest. However, I can sure understand have you feel about GM products if you can'tget the dealer to fix the problems you listed. It sounds like a dealerproblem. It was * who so eloquently stated to rec.outdoors.rv-travel: <SNIP>They come off the very same assembly line! According to our GMC fleet dealer, the emblems are put on last and only the order sheet determines whether they be Chevy or GMC. In fact, it is not that unusual to see mistakes on the dealer lot. When I was looking at trucks there was a GMC truck with Chevy emblems on the doors. The only difference is the $400 premium added in the dealer invoice for the GMC.

gmc trucks : Or the Chev with the GMC tailgate that I pointed out to a somewhatembarassed salesman a few years ago.Don Dickson--Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity.Years ago I toured a GM assembly plant just south of Atlanta. Don'tthink it is there anymore. Anyway, Chevy chevette and pontiac J2000were coming down the line together. The only difference was in theemblems, moldings, grill and tail-light assembly. The main difference I was told was in the marketing. Thanks BIGKALWe have a 95 6.5 L turbo diesel 1 ton and have had no problems in 30,000miles.I have a 1996 Chevy 1500 ext. cab with 6.5 diesel eng. The truck tows about 4000# effortlessly and is very civilized in everyday use. If you buy a diesel you will get eng. oil cooler and trans. oil cooler std. You also get 4L80E trans. std. I don't feel the extra cost of the diesel is worth it, but I was apparently in the right place at the right time. I traded for this truck cheaper than anyone had offered to trade on a gas burner. My previous truck was a 90 Chevy 350 5 spd. manual. The diesel tows much better primarily because of the turbo and the auto. trans. I know firsthand of many 350 Chevy trucks with 150 to 200 thousand miles with very little expense outside of reg. maint. My mileage is 17-18 around town 20 highway (75-80 mph on hwy). Towing mpg is 13, the same as my 350 gas. Diesel fuel is higher than reg. gas so I don't see much saving there unless die. fuel decreases in price. I suppose if you tow heavy loads a lot a diesel would be advantageous, otherwise I would get a gas burner.

gmc trucks : I am looking at a 68 GMC 1/2 ton step side to buy. It has coil springs inthe rear. I thought all GMCs had leaf springs on the rear. Is this corrector not?The long beds all did. Is this a short stepside? Does the I.D. plate matchthe title? The only leaf spring trucks from GM 67-72 Ive seen have been 3\4 ton models.I found a 67 3/4 ton with coils, judging by the 8 bolt hubs and verylarge drums. As far as I know, GM didn't put leafs under the rear of 1/2 tons until1973.--Join the 672GMCTrucks mailing list at for owners andadmirers of 67-72 GMC & Chevy trucks. The '66 and later Chevy 4x4 1/2 ton pickups all have leaf springs front andrear.Leaves were standard on GMC's, coils were optional. Coils were standard onChevrolet, with leaves optional. On Sat, 1 May 1999 17:28:20 -0700, "GregB" spakethusly:I don't think so. I have a 67 GMC 910 with coils that was absolutelyplain jane. My grandfather bought it new in '67 so I know exactly howhe bought it. I am talking 6 cyl, 3 speed with no options whatsoever. My grandfather made Ebenezer Scrooge look absolutely flamboyant so hewould never consider an option that he didn't absolutely need. There is also nothing on the glovebox door listing any optionalsuspension.

gmc trucks : The only vehicles I've ever owned were Chevrolet or GMC full sizetrucks. Some 2 Wheel Drive, some 4 Wheel Drive. Never owned anextended cab because I wanted the 8' bed and a 34 gallon gas tank. Iput about 20-25K miles on per year and try to trade at 75-85K mileswhile it still has trade in value. My problem..........I recently traded my 1996 Chevrolet 1/2 ton in for a 1999 GMC 1/2 ton2WD Regular Cab pickup. (this is painful to type) I traded on a fridayand over the weekend found a +++LOT+++ of irregularities compared tothe past GM trucks I've owned. I guess I should have persisted when asking about the daytime runninglamps on the vehicle, the salesman said he didn't know if the circuitcould be overridden or removed. On past models this was possible todisconnect. I looked in the fuse box and they had a fuse for thedaytime running lamps, but when I pulled it, nothing happened. Cananyone tell me if it's possible to disconnect the circuit on the newGMCs or any other full sized pickup? I really don't give a damn ifthey save lives, so don't give me a hard time about this.
