gmc vandura : I picked up a 1981 GMC Vandura 305 v8.I took it out for a test drive and it over heated.The only thing that I found is the fan turns the wrong way (I think)The fan is supposed to blow the air into the motor not into the radright. Could it just have the wrong fan installed, it looks as if itwhere just put on (shiny new nuts)The rad is made up of lot of tubes to increase the surface area and the fancools that area by blowing through the rad. It's the liquid that's runningthrough the rad that cools the engine. (blowing air on the outside of themotor won't do much)That is what I thought but the rad is in front then the fan blowingtoward the front then the motor, so when I'm driving the outside airwould blow through the rad from the front and the fan is trying toblow the air through the rad from the back. gmc vandura : ok, here's the deal. i am buying a new (either 99 or 2000, depending onwhat shows up) GTI, and i'm wondering about the quality of the stockstereo system in each. so far, i've seen lots of postings saying thatthe 99 system is "crap", but it's hard to ascertain whether the peoplethat feel this way are the kind that coat their walls and significantothers in sound-deadening material in the search of "more sound". whati thought i'd do is give a rundown of what's in my current system, andsee if anyone had any input as to if i'll be satisfied with the stockVW system. for reference, i'm perfectly happy with the system icurrently have. <past this point are my opinions, i don't want to hearhow it's crap :)> it has good, clean, non-distorted-at-the-volume-i-like mids and highs, and adequate bass, without being RiceBass.Current System:Pioneer DEH-635 CD Player. (40Wx4, before that did that whole MOSFETchip deal)2 Pioneer 6.5" woofers.2 Pioneer 1" tweeters. i'm unsure of the model number of this and theabove. i bought them as a package from Best Buy around 2 years ago for~$350US.2 Pioneer TS-A6940 6x9", 2 way speakers.all installed in a big, brown 1979 GMC VanDura. :)i use the receiver's "FIE" feature (just cuts mids and highs from therear speakers) so that the 6x9s just give a bit more bass, and i onlyget highs and mids from my nice tweets.
