jeep comanche : Guess you shoulda told her it wasn't nice that her car was named for a big and seen what kind of reaction that brought about!BTW, Wrangler is not a horse, but the term given to a person who during thecattle drive days of our western states would tend to the horse remuda(herd) that accompanied the trail herd (cattle) on the northward drives tothe railheads in Kansas and other states north of Indian Territory. This jobwas usually given to a young teenage boy in his early teens whom thetrailboss believed was too young to actually ride herd on the cattlethemselves, which was left to the actual cowhands. If after completing adrive and he was a part of the drive the following year (one drive per yearwas the average considering the distance and obstacles faced), he usuallygraduated up to the position of cowboy nursemaiding the beeves. A cowhandwould typically go through four to eight horses per day, thus a herd withten cowhands would need a horse remuda between fifty to one hundred horses.I always have said that if you need something just ask someone!!!!!!!!! jeep comanche : I have a question. Is there a light behind the Control panel for the Heatingsystem and radio???? I bought my Jeep used and before I start taking thingsapart just have to know. Its a pain to have to feel around to change the heatsettings. And change the radio stationPlease let me know what you find out on this. I just picked up an 89Commanche from my Dad, and discovered while driving at night that thereis no light behind the heater control panel. Which radio do you have?I have the AM/FM radio (no cassette or cd) and will take a look to seewhat lights are there on it.I test drove a 88 Cheroke and that didn't a light behind the heater either. Ihave driven behind other comanches and that spot is dark also. So the Cheappricks at amc never problaly put one back there.Yep, 3 or 4 of them. If they are all out, I'd check wiring before pulling panels, tho. The radio has it's own lights and the stock radio is a PITA to get into. The radio light is also controlled by the radio power switch, as I recall.
jeep comanche : A sad day in the life of my Jeep Comanche. 189,000 miles and I needed toreplace the shocks. I jacked up the vehicle, place it on the jack standsand started into the removal process.I sprayed all the nuts and bolts with liquid wrench and let it sit allnight. This morning, I was able to remove all but the left rear. When Itried to remove the upper mounting nut, the bolt sheared off. Now, I am ata loss. The upper mounts are welded to the frame.Is there a retrofit for this? If not, what should I do. I really need myPickUp. Any help is greatly appreciated.I did the same thing on my '91 Cherokee. I brought it into a mechanic buthere is what they did to get the rest of the bolt out. They welded a pieceof stock to the sheared off part and then used the extension to turn out thepart left in. I would also think that you could drill it out but the bolt ispretty small. Anyway, I finally got the new shocks on my Jeep.--"Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. Other things to think about when the coildoesn't fire are listed at: God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O In case you get derailed to the password section, try: God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O The ignition control module on my 88 is located below the relay panel just behind the battery and should be the same on yours. Follow the center lead from the distributor back to the coil - the ICM is locatedin the same place.
jeep comanche : I'm looking for a diagram of the root of the cooling belt for a 1989Jeep Comanche, 4 cylinder, 2wd.Typically, this sort of thing is printed on a sticker affixed to theunderside of the hood.If you have a serpintine belt (a very long, and flat belt) the ribbedpullies will be on the inside of the belt, and the flat pullies will be onthe outside. The crankshaft pulley should be ribbed, and any other pulleythat looks similar will be located inside the belt. There is at least oneflat pulley (no ribs) that performs tensioning duties, this pulley will beon the outside of the belt.Thanks for taking the time to explain. Unfortunately, because I usedthe word "root" instead of "route", the meaning of my question gotskewed. What I need to know is what route the belt takes through thevarious pullies and idlers.I figured that was the question, hence my thorough explanation.Start at the crank and wrap the belt so that the ribbed portion of the belt(the inside surface) rides on the ribbed pullies and the smooth side of thebelt (the outside surface) rides on smooth pullies.
