jeep dealer : - If the waiver compromises the warranty - don't sign it.- They should kick in some $ or some accessories since you had accepted thevehicle as being defect free - if it's not it could be construed as beingdelivered under false pretences. In fact you may of already signedsomething stating that you accepted the vehicle delivered to you.- Have a lawyer look over the waiver so you can be 100% sure of what rightsyou are 'waiving'Andrew ButchartVisit the Village of Neustadt on the web atOnline Updateable Jeep CalendarMake them give you a new one and make them throw-in something like a Lojackfor your time and worry. You have two simple choices. jeep dealer : -**** Posted from RemarQ, ****- Real Discussions for Real PeopleI bought a vehicle once that had damage that needed to be fixed (Paintscratches from transport). First of all, there was a discount. Second ofall, there was no waiver to be signed. Third of all every provision of theoriginal manufacturers warranty was UNAFFECTED by this situation. If theyare unwilling to go for all three of these, then I would certainly smell arat. As my lawyer brother tells me, as soon as the waivers come out andlawyers get involved, somebody's gettin' screwed (and I think you know whothat is). Make them give you a new car or your money back.Would you have purchased the vehicle had you known this before closing the deal? If no, then the minimum you should accept is a new vehicle. I would start those negotiations with asking for my money back so I could go purchase a Jeep from another dealer. From there, I would work towards a new Jeep with some additional options to compensate for the inconvenience. In the end I would be pleased with a new Jeep. Anything more would be gravy. jeep dealer : I would not try to place fault on any one individual in the dealership but merely state that communication apparently failed somewhere in process and caused this unfortunate situation and now it must be rectified.Bottom line is: If they want you to sign a waiver, they are concerned about future legal ramifications. They obviously consider this damage serious enough to present a possible liability. If this weren't the case, they would not have spoken up. They knew that speaking up could present them with a gnarly mess but they apparently felt that it would be the lesser of two evils. Can't wait to see how this one comes out. Keep us posted. Good Luck. You may want to check on the repair warranty.... at my Jeep dealer, any bodywork and paint they do is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle.--DougICQ #1921081*Good guys drive black jeeps*Oct '99 Jeep Calendar!I had a similar experience. The day after the purchase, they called meback and stated that the loan didn't go through. Even though 3 days earlierI was told that I was "pre-approved". The did get a loan @ 10% and I had topay sales tax instead of 7.5% and nothing down. I wanted the Jeep, hadcovered it in mud (wrecker required to get me out) that first night, and hadno other viechele (car had a cracked head gasket and barely made it to thejunk yard) so when I went back, I felt like I had to take the new loan (anddid). After thinking about it (and my dad chewing my but out over it). I wishthat I had left them their new Jeep looking the way it should... covered inmud. No warranty for this one... <JK>. The sales man should not have toldme I was pre-approved for a loan. And the finance manager should have shownme the fine print that said the deal was not final until the paper work wascomplete. However, since they essentially broke the contract I signed, Iwas not obligated to take it. Get a NEW Jeep! That or get major money back. They can't sell it tosomeone else new (since it has technically been titled to you) so only paythe used price. That is all they can get from it if you get a new one. jeep dealer : I noticed that my local Jeep dealer has a 2001Cherokee Limited with Up Country on the lot.I know that the Up Country ones are going to behard to come by so I thought someone might beinterested.I live in central Texas. If anyone might want moreinfo (dealer name and such) email me.My local Jeep dealer has a hole bunch of Cherokees. About1/2 of them have Up Country. This surprised me, because back a couple of years ago, whenI was looking, it was very unusual to find a Cherokee withUp Country on the lot. I guess Jeep is pushing the Up CountryPackage on the final production run of the Cherokee.Same here. This dealer has never had an Up Country onthe lot before to the best of my knowledge. I drive by iteveryday so I get a good look-see.Maybe Jeep feels that only the remaining "diehard" off-roadersare still interested in buying the old Cherokees. For them,Jeep realized they all would want the Up Country packages. Those who have no interest or need for Up Country will most probably go for the new Liberty. Its the 3" factory lift with rock guards underneath and tow hooks.... jeep dealer : Frank Parra in Irving Texas has a load of them on the lot, last count10.....usually there may be one at the most......I saw these as we weregetting my wifes Cherokee serviced......What's the assessment on the lift? Do you mean dealer installed, or factory lift? I know Parra does a lot of dealer installed lifts. Is this a true factory option? No these are not dealer installed for Jeep offers the Up Country withfactory installed lift, that is why they call it Up Country Package......itlists this option in the Cherokee catalogue....front and rear tow hookswhich mean they come with factory installed mounting brackets.....they ridevery nice in my opinion.....but I have heard as always on any jeep that therock shields undernieth are not that heavy of metal......they cover thefront, the tranny and gas tank....I believe Parra does the Wranger type jeeplifts as dealer installed...Thanks Phil,Yes Parra offered to lift my TJ when I bought it, but I had decided on a Teraflex lift and I also (ugh) wanted to do it myself.I don't know why I've never heard about the Up Country Pkg before they put the bullet in the Cherokee. I might have been interested.
