jeep grand wagoneer : What rebates are out there? I would qualify for a new college graduate rebateand a first time new car buyer rebate. Are these offered by the dealers orthe Corporation (Chrysler)? Should I negotiate first, and then apply therebates after we've determined a price (so that I get a price below invoiceafter the rebates have been applied)? Thanks for your time and advice. Please send responses through emailunless you think enough people would be sufficiently interested. From: ()Subject: Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Questions Newsgroups: Date: 1993-09-14 10:12:33 PST (Matt Morin) writes:I think they are weighing in the good record they have on newly designedcars.Part Time 4WD (2 differentials) should not be drive on drive pavement.Full time 4WD (AWD) 3 differentials always has power behind all 4 wheels cannot be disengaged (Much safer).Viscous coupling (2 differentials) with a sensing system that automaticallyengages and disengages. When engage it's like Part Time 4WD.Which name goes with what I forget. You to balance Cost, MPG and applicationas to what is best for you.
jeep grand wagoneer : On hot selling cars it's hard to get them down to $300, because ifyou don't buy it someone else will. They also have a quota, so itdoes not mean one more car sold to them, it means one car soldfor less than what they could of got for it.I just got mine through Mass Buying Power, which was $300 overinvoice for a '94. But I had to travel 70 miles for it. All localdealers would not touch it.According to Mass Buying power, Destination and Advertizing costare a legimate charge and I did have to pay those. If someone doesnot charge you for these they are just cutting into their profit.'94s cost about $1000 more than 93s. V8's are free on 93s and 94s becausethey can't make enough 6 cyc engines. In additional to CR, one of the auto mags also predicted decent reliabilitybased on their extensive test of a sample '93 unit. How they came to thisconclusion, I don't know.I got the select-trac. It's easy enough to switch into 4WD that it didn't seemworth the expense of the Quadra-Trak. Just start moving and yank on the lever.I think the Quadra-Trak also adds more weight. jeep grand wagoneer : I talked to 5 dealers. 4 wanted $500 over invoice. One wanted $250 overinvoice. This is for a factory order '94. They all wanted $500 for an offthe lot car.MVA is bogus, don't pay it. Destination is not negotiable, the autoprice mags that I've seen have been pretty clear on this. I don't thinkyou are going to get very far with the Advertisement thing with Jeep. Ididn't bother trying to talk that one down.Just the V8 for free thing, and '93 are priced a little lower. No otherrebates on a popular car. From: ()Subject: Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Questions Newsgroups: Date: 1993-09-17 21:34:47 PST In article (John Kalucki) writes:I just bought a 1993 Limited....seems real solid but I don't know any more than that! The three transfer cases available are as follows: Command-Trac - NPG 231 manual part-time 4WD with shift-on-the-fly - inc, low range Standard on Base and Laredo Selec-Trac - NPG 242 Manual full-time 4WD with shift-on-the-fly - inc. low range (No cost option on Limited, optional on Base and Laredo) Quadra-Trac - NPG 249 all-the-time 4WD w/ dual range automatically locking viscous coupling center differential and lube pump feature (allows trailer towing) Reqires auto transmission and conventional spare. Standard on the Limited. jeep grand wagoneer : I drove a Selec-Trac with the V8 and found that the rear tires did spin every oncein a while, especially if they were wet. Growing up in Montana I quite often foundmyself in situations that required 4WD. We had variuos 4WD trucks, some full-timeand others shift-on-the-fly. I will always take the full-time over the shift-on-the-fly. It never seemed to fail that whenever I needed four wheel drive that I wasfinding out a little late..and quite often was stuck or ended up tearing the groundup since I couldn't "shift-on-the-fly" fast enough. Maybe that was unique to beingout in fields and off-road that this was the case but I suspect not. I opted for theQuadra-Trac and like it soo far. This winter will be a good test. We got ours for $250-350 over invoice on a 93 V8 on the lot. Most of the dealerswere telling me that the '94's did not have the rebates on the V8, so I did not dealwith them. (Can anyone confirm/deny that the rebate is valid on the 94 v8's?) The destination charge is valid. Neither of the two dealers that I seriously talkedpricing on wanted to charge a Marketing/Advertisement Charge so I suspect that thisis a bogus charge and I would not have paid it had they wanted me to pay it. jeep grand wagoneer : The only rebate that I know of on the Grand Cherokees is the $750 on the V8 (of which the dealer ends up paying around $100....only $650 goes back to the dealer)Good luck and hammer them on pricing...Show No Fear!!!Kevin Parker1993 Grand Cherokee, Limited, V8This is my first time on this board, so I am unaware if this topic has been addressed before.I am in the market for a new car and I was leaning towards the '94 JGC. However, I have recently heard that there have already been two recalls. Is this true? The only recall that I am aware of is the recall for the '93 Grand Cherokee. Ithad something to do with the steering column. I've recently bought a '94 and amvery happy with it. Someone just compiled a series of opinions of the JGC onone of these rec.autos lists. From: ()Subject: Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Questions Newsgroups: Date: 1994-02-15 08:40:43 PST I think it's true - that I heard somewhere on the radio that the JGC hadbeen recalled. However, I don't remember the source and I don't rememberwhat they were recalled for. You should just ask your dealer - I thinkthey are obligated to tell you.
