jeep lift kit : It'll work with those shocks. I'd opt for the simplicity of the manuallycontrolled shocks myself (as far as installation goes, but that's just myopinion). There are a couple of places out my way Ender, check out TriCounty Gear inPomona. Although they might try to sell you a Teraflex, they will installany lift for a reasonable price and they do pretty good work. You can alsogive All4wheel in Corona a call as well. I don't have any presonalexperience with them but I have a couple of friends who swear by them. I amsure there are some reputable shops in Pomona but I am not aware of them. You can try by asking around. Give 4West out in Redlands a call and seewhat they say. Also, its not as tough as you think to install a lift on a TJ. All you needis a good floor jack or 2, jackstands, a drill for the rear trackbar bracketand a basic tool set. Other's may disagree but I like to use strutcompressors on the springs but you do't necessarily need them. They can berented FOC at most autoparts stores. The first time I did mine, it took me 5hours in my driveway, now I can change springs in and out at about 1/2 houra corner.Robert

jeep lift kit : Ooops, meant to say Riverside, already recommended a shop in Pomona <g>You know, I've called All four wheel drive and they said that theydont do lifts. Would be nice too, cause they're about a 5 minutesaway from my house.Should I buy a kit from RE, then go to the shop? Or will it becheaper to do everything through them?On Mon, 24 Jan 2000 20:56:46 -0800, "Robert J. I have Rancho RS9000 shocks and after the initialnovelty wore off of adjusting them a couple times the first week or two,I just left them on '2' and won't adjust them again except to gooff-roading... where I'll set them on '1' (the softest/quickestadjustment) for rock crawling.--Jerry BransfordPP-ASEL KC6TAY The Zen Hotdog... make me one with everything!Geezer: Cary, I am in the same situation. Am thinking getting RS9000 instead. After reading this NG, I found some people swear by it, some do not caremuch about the added cost (gimmick). I do agree with Jerry and Dwayne thatremote kit is not worth the money and trouble.

jeep lift kit : My buddy gave me a set of 33X12.5 MTs, and I want to throw them on mystock 95 YJ. I'm looking at either the standard RE 4" lift or theExtreme Duty 4.5" lift. I assume that I'll need them to re-gear theJeep as well. There's a very reputable shop in town that I'd like to perform thework for me.How much $$$ should I figure in labor costs for installing the liftkit and re-gearing the Jeep for me? (How much should I pay to jsutinstall the lift kit?)Is gearing something that I should hold off on, or should I get itdone with the lift?Apart from the kit, gearing, and labor, are there any other costs Ishould be aware of?From: ()Subject: Re: How much for labor on a lift kit install on a YJ? Newsgroups: Date: 1999/09/27 There's no cost advantage to doing the gears done with the lift. The twojobs don't overlap. That said, you won't want to be running the stock gearswith those tires for long. If you're at all mechanically inclined, you caneasily swap in either of RE's lifts you mentioned over a leisurely weekendand save the install cost of the lift. You can then put the $ saved towardputting Tru-tracs in both axles!

jeep lift kit : Don't even waste your time & money on the standard 4" kit. The ride isnothing to write home about and the flex is almost non-existant. Iinstalled one about 3 months ago for a guy that I wheel with now and thething (with 31's) can't even match a stock TJ on the RTIramp...That's him as far as it'll go, not even halfway up the ramp. That's me with a 2" Superlift and 32's on a CJ-7 with my street tirepressure (30 psi)Neither vehicle has any suspension mods beyond the lift and sway-bardisconnects.Bah! Install the lift yourself. This a a perfect opportunity to startlearning how to do some things on your Jeep. You can use the money thatyou'll save there to help pay for the re-gearing.You can have it done anytime, just get the front & rear done at the sametime, and get any traction devices you might want installed at the sametime.Hehe...this is only the start. Once the bug bites, you'll be looking atlockers, bumpers, winches, etc. There is a part of pretty much every one of us here that just loves gettingunder or over our rigs to work on them. A lot of times we walk away withclenched teeth, our eyes are rolled back in our head, foaming at the mouthjust pissed at the Jeep Gods for not making that bolt come out withoutpenetrating oil. Even though these moments may scare our wives and make theneighbor kids finally go away, we love being down there, hands on, lookingat it, and trying to figure out how the hell that thing goes back on! Iremember when I got mine, I could barely change the air freshener, much lessthrow a lift kit on the suspension!! The Suspension lift you choose isn'tgoing to be real hard at all to put on. Probably the hardest part will begetting the old shackle bolts out(pipewrench and cheater). You grab thatbuddy of yours and you guys take a day off and put that lift on. You willsave money, you will do it yourself. Heck, even some of the guys in herewould be willing to throw a hand out to a fellow Jeeper. Where are you at,anyway? If you are close to me, then I could give you a hand with it.

jeep lift kit : I have the same Ideas on installing your own equipment, but some of ushave problems, My problems are that #1, I live in a apartment with nowhere to work on my jeep, #2 I dont have enough tools to do a good jobof anything, dont even have jack stands (which are DEFINITLY requiredto do a lift job) Actually, when I finally save enough money to purchase my lift, Iwould like getting help from someone who lives close to me on the NGin exchange for something, Maybe they can work on my jeep while I workon their computer. I am a computer technician and can fix anysoftware problems and install/upgrade any system. I have worked forATT worldnet tech support, Disney tech support, and several othertechnical support positions. If anyone needs any Support on anycomputer related problems, let me know, I would be willing to helpanyone (through email or phone) for free, but would also like the samein return to work on my jeep :)I'm sure that some on the newsgroup don't mind helping at all. I have a decentsize shop area with tools and all- if somebody needs a place in the Ft. Wortharea. I'm out in the country about 20 miles west.
