King book only covers through the CJthough. Ludel's book has been updated to cover the TJ.But I have to agree with the others. If you're looking for a repairmanual for a TJ, the factory service manual is the only way to go.The first book I would get is the Factory Service Manual. It's a littlepricey ($99), but worth it IMHO.I would also get the Jeep 4x4 Performance Handbook. It contains some verycomplete discussions of tires, powertrain, suspensions, recovery, safety,etc. Another very good source of info, IMHO.I second the opinion that Moses Ludel is an excellent source of info re:Jeeps. The Jeep Owners' Bible sits right next to my Factory Service Manualon my shelves.The FSM is great, but lacks some detailed step- by-step information. As anovice mechaninc, I also use the new Haynes Wrangler manual which includesmodels from 87 to 99. Although there are a few obvious minor errors (showingthe underside of an XJ rather than a TJ for example) I contains much detailedinformation. I found it helpful for changing the front and read brake pads, andseveral other items.
jeep repair : Could someone please email me some names of reputable Jeep shops that dodrivetrain work. I need to get the correct R&P put in plus I was looking ata rear diff. Currently I'm running 33's on a 97 TJ with the stock Dana35 inthe rear. If you have any suggestions on the type/brands, please let meknow that also...There is a new shop in Townsend MA.
