jeep seat covers : After making the error of getting cloth seats, I am now trying to find some alternatives to replacing the seats...Anyone aware of any seat covers that are water-resistant? Or do I need to completely replace the seat covers? What do you not like about the cloth seats?I plan on ordering them..The Quadratec catalog has water-resistant replacement seat covers made out of"genuine wet suit material". They are called Wet Okole Seat Covers. They runfrom $119 to $235 per front pair, depending on whether or not they areuniversal fit or custom. Same type for rear seat also. Call them for more infoat 800-745-5337.David98 TJ/Sahara"Love your Jeep, and it will love you back."If you can't tell whether or not I was joking in my post, I probably was.One complaint voiced several times here on the Wet Okole seat covers isthat their colors fade quickly and unevenly if exposed to the sun. Thatcould be a real concern since so many of us keep the top off for weeksor months at a time! The Wet Okole Seat Covers are worth every penny; they fit verywell, they are very sturdy and don't seem to fade from the sun, either. I had vinyl seats that were really grubby looking andbadly repaired in a few spots. The covers make it seem like a newJeep.
jeep seat covers : David MacGuireDaveMan184 wrote in messagepost, I probably was.I have thought about getting these covers also; however, more than oneperson has told me that they are not 100% water-proof...but closer to beinga water-resistant type of seat cover. Anyone with these installed on clothseats care to reply? I would hate to buy these only to find out that waterwas seeping through them and that I had mildew growing on my cloth seats.I have the Jeep seat covers on my 1997 TJ cloth seats and they are notwater-proof, they are water resistant. I have them because I usually get inmy Jeep after the gym when I am sweaty. I would definitely not want to havethem rained on. The water would definitely seep through to the cloth seats.Brian's advice is dead-on. The Wet-Okole neopreme seat covers are waterresistant, but they're definitely not water-proof. Neopreme, evenpremium closed-cell Rubatex neopreme will eventually and *definitely*absorb water. When it rains in your Jeep (sans top) the cloth seats stay wet for a goodday or so...and you cant just wipe off the water like you can with a vinylseat. jeep seat covers : On Sun, 1 Mar 1998 08:52:25 -0700, "Jed Brunson" wrote:I installed a soft top (kayline) last year and tend to leave the topdown all the time, unless there is some compelling reason to put it up at night (like knowledge of an oncoming storm). For the mostpart, I am envious of the guy down the street that has vinyl seats,It is a major pain trying to dry em up and sitting on garbage bagsand the like doesn't help much! Getting dirt out em is no fun taskeither. Otherwise, I like em :}One complaint voiced several times here on the Wet Okole seat coversis that their colors fade quickly and unevenly if exposed to the sun. That could be a real concern since so many of us keep the top off forweeks or months at a time! Thanks Dave and Jerry. Is the fading the ONLY problem? I don't recallseeing too much conversation on this since early last year...and Iforget the thread, but it really went way out there :} I can handle a little uneven fading, the pueblo is hardly a solid color ! hehThe Wet Okole Seat Covers are worth every penny; they fit verywell, they are very sturdy and don't seem to fade from the sun, either. The purposebehind the Gortex laminate is to allow your body's perspiration (read: waterVAPOR) to transport through a fabric (or Gortex membrane) while at the sametime, that same fabric provides water (in its liquid form, not vapor)repellency. One dynamic (vapor) works from the inside-out while the otherdynamic (rain) works from the outside-not-in. More often the "water proof"capabilities of that fabric comes not from the actual Gortex, but ratherfrom its factory installed coating (similar to an industrial Scotchgard). That two-concept process is rather expensive and only works if the materialis clean (if the pores are clogged, the vapor still can't escape). So backto the seats...Keep the extra money in your pocket book and look for something that iscoated with a water repellant. Keep it clean (and re-treat it asnecessary). Looking for a Gortex seat cover is not necessary. As long asyou're thinking about spending a lot of money, how about neoprene? jeep seat covers : In article says...Uh, I could be wrong on this, but I don't think Wranglers come with leather seats.Went to the dealer a while back and saw a purty '99 in the showroom. It had chrome nerf bars, tube bumpers, and leather seats. When I inquired to my salesman as to when the Wranglers started coming with leather he said, "They don't, they're seat covers."Check under your seat to see if maybe they have hooks holding them in place. If so, pull them off to keep them clean. If they aren't covers, chalk another one up to the Frank's wrong column.Wranglers don't "come" with leather seats, but that doesn't mean theycan't be added via the aftermarket. I saw a tricked out Jeep at thelocal dealer and it was decked in full leather seats. Had the Jeep logostitched into the seat backs too. They were grey and looked awesome. Now, whether those were just seat covers, I don't know. Whatever it waslooked cool, IMO.Hope they never plan on taking the top off...sure would suck to be them toget mud, rain, etc on a waste of leather seats.
