I had a crown of kids around me most of the day. As my time wasrunning down, a fellow came by with two kids. The kids waited for theirballoons, while this fellow went to their vehicle, which was in the first spotright there.He unlocked the vehicle, it was a brand new Jeep SUV, had leather seats andthat gold plated trim. The kid got their balloons, and he came over mutteringsomething about cellphones and how his life is no better.... He stopped for amoment and perused my pamphlets on religious teachings, looked me over hard,and returned to his grand vehicle and put the kids in.
jeep stroller : We visited WDW with Cassidy a few months past her 5th birthday and Iagree with you that a child that age can't keep up adults for 7 fulldays. Cassidy spent varying amounts of time in a stroller on thattrip - it seemed that eraly in the day the stroller carried the pack,mid-day Cassidy and in the evening the pack again and Cassidy as wewalked out of the park.On our visit just a few weeks ago, the MK, Epcot and MGM all had newstrollers that look like a cross between a jogging stroller and aregular stroller - the body looks like the jogging stroller, but theyhave 2 front whells that pivot. AK still has the models that sort oflook like a jeep. If you don't normally need a stroller for your son, it may make senseto bring an umbrella stroller for your younger child (a real lifesaverthrough airports and to and from transportation) and rent strollers atthe parks as you need them for your son. (Ordinarily, I would say tobring your own to save the daily rental fee and have use of thestroller outside of the parks...)
jeep stroller : I was wondering if anyone who owns a TJ (or YJ/CJ for that matter) has anyexperience/opinion on owning a Wrangler as a second car. I am newly marriedand it seems everyone thinks that a TJ would be a poor choice in vehiclesbecause my wife and I may have children in the next couple of years.Does a child seat work in the back seat OK and if yes, is it terriblydifficult to get a child into/out of one?I currently drive a 94 Eagle Talon. I can't see a Wrangler riding anyrougher than what I have now and the more useful back seat would be muchnicer. I did rent a TJ when on St. John USVI during my honeymoon. I liked itvery much but the experience may not be a good "test drive" to form anopinion from since I never really went much over 30 MPH (the scenery is sodamn good it is hard to go even that fast). I did think the ride was reallynicethough.The Jeep would be a second car as my wife has a 94 S-10 Blazer (4-door) withall the gizmos. The blazer has been a great car and will do fine as aprimary family car. I guess I am wondering about the rest of the time thatthe Blazer won't be available and I will have to truck a little one in myvehicle.
jeep stroller : I seem to have mixed feelings about the whole thing because I would reallylike to get a TJ for my next vehicle but I keep hearing from others (somewho know absolutely nothing about Jeeps - thus my reason for asking thesequestions here) that it would be bad with kids.One person who has tried to talk me out of a TJ is my boss. He owns a YJand parks it in the garage almost year round with the top down (it's a thirdvehicle)because he says putting the top up and down is such a pain. Is the topon the TJ a big improvement? I have considered a hard top as well buthate the idea of not having a soft top for the good weather.I realize that asking this question in this newsgroup is inviting theobviousYES response but I am hoping to find someone willing to share theirpersonal experience with a Jeep on a daily basis as I have described.Yes, a child seat will work, but you would have to live with theinconveience of a 2-door accessible vehicle. Another drawback is the factthat the rear seatbelt (used to secure a child seat) will slip from betweenthe seat and seatback every time you "fold and tumble" the rear seat. Onethe other hand, the passenger-side seat does a nice job of folding ANDtilting it's base forward to allow access to the rear, just be prepared it,like other 2-door cars, will not be as easily accessible as your 4-doorbronco.You can thank the change from Leaf springs to a modified version of theGrand Cherokee Spring/Shock suspension combo.If it's only going to carry a car-seat-sized child on an ocassional basisyou'd probably be fine, I know you'd probably be happier driving the car(jeep) you like than having to settle for a minivan and regretting it later.Sounds like the Blazer would be the "primary" Kids vehicle, so I don't think"child friendly design" is as much a factor as you and your friends aremaking it out to be.
jeep stroller : Ahh, St. John. BTDT. and it is gorgeous!But hey, we went l0 years ago and we got a Suckzuki! (Actually, it wasa blast to drive.) But I digress.You post an interesting question. I currently have an almost 11 yearold and he and his friends love the Jeep. (Side steps are a must forback seaters) But having to deal with a car seat? Well, that one hasme perplexed because I want to tell you to get the TJ. But I also knowhow difficult it can be just to get groceries out of the back seat andhow little storage there is for anything else. If you think you may bethe type of couple that has to make 3 trips to the car for the babies'stuff, I would look at a larger vehicle.But, if as you said, you MAY be having kids, take the plunge, have funwhile you can because the TYPE of fun you have once the baby arriveswill be totally different! By then, the JEEP THING mantra will be inplace, and you'll find yourself just dealing with it but still lovingyour Jeep.As far as safety, I feel this is a safe vehicle. Even as small as itis, it feels like you're driving a couple of tons around (in a good way,of course!) There was a recent thread a few months back that addressedyour issue somewhat. I'd be curious to know if the original poster ofthat ended up with a TJ.
