jeep tops : I have a 4cyl auto. and it has some power, but not much. im mostly a highwaydriver, and it takes a couple of seconds (i think it was around 10) to get itup to 65-75mphi dont have any type of modified stereo in my jeep so i know nothing aboutprotection. as far as owning a jeep wrangler, im very happy with mine, nomatter what the power or how hard the top is to get off. Ben,You can roll the windows up in a towel and put them behind the back seatbefore you put the top down.I really don't have a problem with the windows if it's warm out, they're more flexible when warm. They roll up in a fashion that I canfit them behind the rear seat. I shove the top down over them andthere are no problems. If it's guaranteed not to rain, I'll remove thewhole top for storage so I can have some extra cargo room. I also havea '92 YJ, I'm not sure how much the design has changed throughout theyears.1) The soft top folds back nicely when its not up. (takes a few minutes to put it up ordown) A lot of the guys just take it off and store it in the garage. Generaly, the topslast a few years before the combination of sun, wind, and vandals takes its toll. I'dguess that your '95 will want a new top in the next few years. Bestop replacements are$500 to $600 dependng on options.2) All are 4x4. Making sure the 4x4 works is something you should check before buying.Major repairs are not cheap.3) The 4 cyl is a bullet proof wimp. Its great off road (slow speed), ok around town, acceptable on a highway, leaves things to be desired on the freeway at 70+ It will liveforever if you change the oil regularly. Lots of stories about driving either the 4 or 6to 150,000 miles.4) Never put anything in your Jeep that you prize very much. These are magnets forthieves and vandals. At a minimum, you need the metal Tuffy console.5) Happy Jeep'n. These things are a blast, especially topless. (no doors, no top)
jeep tops : About 2 months ago, I realized that my life is just incomplete without aWrangler. There were obvious hurdles including lack of space for my kids, lack of security, uncomfortable ride, etc. So, to cure myself of thisillogical infatuation, and put this whole thing to rest, I test drove one.Well, I am sure you know the rest of this story. Not only did my desiregreatly increase, suddenly my wife and kids were worse than I was.I do want to make the point that I have greatly enjoyed this newsgroup andthe many websites all you zealots have constructed. Truly entertaining andinformative. Can someone help with pros and cons on full doors with rollup windows vs.the half doors? I have seen quite a few folks looking for full doors and asthe price is reasonable from the dealer as original equipment, I thought Imight try to do it right the first time out.I have the full doors and am glad. I test drove a soft top with half doors andwhen it came time to put down the window, I was amazed at the lack of what todo with it when unzipped. First you have to unzip it, then where does it go? Inside flopped down over everything or outside flapping in the wind. Didn'tseem like what I needed seeing as everytime I jump in my cars, I immediatelyput down the front windows. Before I decided that the hardtop was best for me,I was going to get a softtop but with the full doors. That's how much I reallydidn't like those windows. You can now buy aftermarket hard half slidingwindows but they're still not as nice. Don't get me wrong, I want some halfdoors but thats for the summers when the top is off. I'm really glad I got the hardtop & all for my busy lifestyle. Almost daily I'mputting the back seat up for work and down at night for the kids. Its moresecure, quiet and I love my roll down windows that disappear into the door!Steve Sampson - 98 TJ Sport"Life's better in low range" jeep tops : IMO, full doors with the soft top down look really dorky. NO DOORS withthe top down is way cool. As soon as it's warm, I take my hard top off, the full doors off, put thesoft top on, and leave it down for the summer. I bought Bestop's"superdoors", which are a full soft two piece set. Sometimes I keep thesoft bottoms on, sometimes not. At night I cover the cabin with a Bestop"cockpit cover". If it rains a little, I get wet. If it rains for a fewdays in a row, I'll put the soft top up. I carry the soft upper doorsbehind the rear seat, in front of the add-a-trunk, and covered by thefolded soft top, at all times.Get both. The most fulfilling part of the Jeep experience involveschanging doors, tops, tonneau covers, bikini tops, and what have you ona seasonal basis. You cannot get the full spectrum of effects withoutowning both kinds of doors and at least one hard top and one soft top. I have so many Jeep tops, doors, and accessories that it takes half of atwo car garage to store them all, and I still cannot get the Jeep in thedoor! Also, take at least one long trip in the rain with baja doors andthe bikini top. Cold rain is best. jeep tops : Seriously, the price for full doors from the dealer is probably notreasonable, if you take into account the half doors you are not gettingwith the deal. To see what the dealer really charges for full doors, add to the price what his parts department charges for half doors plusthe window part for half doors.I really REALLY like my half doors. The versatility they offer me isunbeatable. Unless you commute and this is your main vehicle, get thehalf doors. It sounds like you're looking for a true Jeep experienceand IMO, the half doors give it to you in spades. I'm constantly takingthe top halves off and putting them back on. They take some gettingused to - like you have to be stopped or going real slow to zip themback up. Another plus is they offer you a place to put your arm. Thehard doors really don't give you an arm rest.I ordered my '97 softtop with the full hard doors, and now my '98 whichorigionally come as a hardtop has the full hard doors with my newsofttop. If I could choose only one set, I'd go for the full doors. Iwill admit that with the top down, I would like to have the half doors, but outside of summer with the top down, I really prefer the full doors. jeep tops : i have a hard top from an 83 cj-7 for sale it is black with black harddoors and in good shape for its age.the top and doors are factory originalnot aftermarket junk..and.it has the paddle style latches on the doors soboth top and doors will fit 80-86cj-7s and 87-96 wranglers.....if u areinterested the price is $700 obo and it is located in ill near wisconsinborder.just e-mail me if u have a ny questionsi also have a bestop bikini top and rear deck cover from a 93 wrangler forsale.its in great shape, less than a year old and will fit wranglers withthe new rollbar from 92-96.the price is $70 for both if u are interestede-mail me and i will tell u what u want to know..thanksi have an 83 cj-7 top for sale.factory original and in great shape for itsage .top and doors are black and the doors have the paddle style handles sothe top and doors will fit cj-7s from 1980-1986 and wranglers from1987-1996.if interested the price is 700 obo and it is located in ill nearthe wisconsin border.i also have a blcak bestop bikini and rear cover for sale for jeepwranglers 1992-1996..in grest shape less than a year old.the rear coverwill fit under the original softtop mounting hardwareso no snaps or velcrorequired price is 70$ obothanks
