jeep wrangler parts : 1 1991 White Jeep Wrangler 4wd 4cyl 5 spd. The current Kelly Blue Bookfor this Jeep is $5435,MY PRICE is $3600, which is more than fair when you consider there areabout $550 in new parts(not labor, just PARTS) installed. I am selling this Jeep to buyanother car.NEW PARTS: fuel lines, radiator, radiator hoses, water pump, serpentinebelt, shocks (all 4),right engine mount, carpet (a few spots need reglued), am/fm cassette,oil pressure sensor(these are known to go bad), coolant temperature sensor.PARTS INCLUDED: tranny mount (weather got cold, never installed it)View video/pictures to see pictures I just took. I will tell you thoughthere is a smallrust hole under the windshield frame (on the main body). This hole iseasily fillable,but I have no experience with bondo/etc. There are some other rustspots, but with a littlemore buffing they will come out. In the pictures the radiator shroud isremoved, only becauseI haven't put it back on yet.The motor runs well, the Jeep will still do 75 on the freeway. (Whichis all you can ask of the 4cyl's)The transfer case works (of course) and overall the Jeep is in prettygood shape considering the mileage.All I had left to do is replace the ignition coil bracket (20-30 bucksat junkyard, current one is cracked),battery tray (20 bucks, still works, but showing some rust), New oilpressure gage (10-15 bucks, current one is bad, sensor is fineI know because I replaced it)
jeep wrangler parts : I was getting new tires on my 89 Wrangler today, and the tire jockeyactually noticed something. My left tierod end was wobbling inthe steering knuckle! The Jeep has 52,000 miles on it, and the tierods have never been touched. ANyway, my questions are the following: 1) What may have caused the steering knuckle to wallow out? (I've never seen anything like this before...) 2) What are my chances of getting Chrysler to pick up the tab? I have the Chyrsler 7/70 poertrain warranty, and the steering knuckle is integral to the entire hub assembly, which happens to bearings that carry the front drive assembly. It seems to me that this means its both a drivetrain and steering part, and that they ought to replace it as such. I have no problem foot the bill for the tierod If i have to. 3) Different subject... is there any law requiring manufactures to warranty safety equipment? The spring in the latch for the driver's side seat belt broke a month ago, and Chrysler wants $50 for a new buckle and belt. 4) Anyone know of a source for used Wrangler parts in Tenn or Texas? (i'm live in MI)If I got a Wrangler, I'd probably get a Hard Top. Where would I keep the hard top, and does it come with a soft top also? While Honda Civic makes the Consumer Reports "10Best Cars" list, the Jeep Wrangler (the older YJ model) hasconsistantly been on the "10 Worst Cars" list. I personally think itis not fair to compare them this way, the Jeep has far more powertrain(about twice as many moving parts) and people don't traverse rivers,mountains, and deserts on Hondas (unless there is a paved road). Fromwhat I have observed over the last few months, TJ factory quality isbetter than YJ quality.2) Air Conditioning is nice but burdens the 4-cylinder. In fact, Idon't think you can even get air on a 4-cylinder automatic. I didn'tget air for my 4-cylinder, 5-speed TJ, because I don't think it'srequired in California. The soft top can cook the interior,especially if it's black in color, but having a car cover or cab coveris a better solution than air, if you use the cover in the sun, it'sseldom uncomfortable in the car.3) I have yet to drive the TJ in Winter (the first snows are justhappening in the first production year), but I have owned other softtops in colder climates. In extreme conditions, I have had frost formon the inside of fabric and windows on these vehicles, and you can'tscrape off the soft windows at all. I will say that the less the topflaps around, the fewer drafts, and the TJ is pretty good. The TJheater is the first good one Jeep has built. From the factory, you can order one top with the vehicle. You haveto buy the other one from Chrysler as spare parts. If you buy thehard top through the parts department, all of the pieces including thefull length doors are about $3200., (assuming you get the goodies likethe defroster) and you have to paint the doors. If you buy the softtop, it is $1500 from parts (plus of course the extra cost for thehard top option when you buy the vehicle). Reportedly, the vendor isBestop for the soft top, and next year they will be selling direct forabout $800 complete, but Chrysler has exclusive rights to sell thefirst twelve months. My reccomendation, get the soft top (it'sstandard on all TJs) and if you want the hard top this year, you canget one aftermarket from Quadratec for $1599 plus shipping, and itincludes hard upper half doors that have sliding glass, and fit on topof your soft top lower half hard doors. If you must have both tops,that puts you more than $1000 ahead. No defroster, but dark tintedglass. Quadratec sells a hoist to attach to your garage ceiling,that's the best way to deal with the hard top, and makes it aone-person job.Gary'67 Jeep Commando'92 Cherokee'97 Wrangler TJ
