rubicon jeep : Jerry--Jerry BransfordPP-ASEL KC6TAYThe Zen Hotdog... make me one with everything!Geezer Jeep: True, but most would probably opt for a used TJ for this type of buildup, anyway. I can't wait to hear about a Rubicon that is taken off-road, somethingbreaks, and then the dealer denies a warranty claim for "abuse." Mark my words,it will happen.* * *Matt Macchiarolo'02 F250 SD Crewcab'00 TJ Sport'93 XJ CountryPeople will buy the damn things (who have NEVER even wheeled in a stocker)and beat the beejesus out of them and then go crying to the dealer when theyrip out the driveshafts and the oilpan and or kill themselves.Well maybe not to that extreme but I see a high stupidity factor coming intoplay on this one......--TxBuzz2001 Daimler TJ SportGibson exhaust & Airaid intakeDunlop 32x11.50x15 Mud Rovers on Progressive PRO-60 rims with 3"of liftIf some of the buyers of the Rubicon have done little or no offroadingbefore, it's very likely they'll consider a bumpy dirt trail extremeoffroading. They'd likely be the last kind of Rubicon owner to actuallybreak anything.--Jerry BransfordPP-ASEL KC6TAYThe Zen Hotdog... make me one with everything!Geezer Jeep: rubicon jeep : I am looking for a "good" link or any info on the price for the 2003 tjRubicon. What's the deal?Jason,You wont see prices until it gets much closer to the launch date which willprobably be sometime in August. You can expect a hefty dealer mark-up fromsuggested retail as there are only suppose to be 8000 built initially. There is $6000 in additional components from a standard Sport model. So youcan figure it out."Jason" wrote in message...On jeep.com, there's an area for some kind of contest. If you read thecontest rules it shows the MSRP at around US $24k. But as you said, dealers will sell them for whatever they can. Supply vsDemand.--Jerry BransfordPP-ASEL KC6TAYThe Zen Hotdog... make me one with everything!Geezer Jeep: I agree to all the above statements. This will be in demand. I will bebuying one of these when they do come out because its the only way acompletely locked up jeep is covered under warranty."Jerry Bransford" wrote in message...$6000 in additional parts is what I was told when I spoke to to the projectengineer at the publicity display in Moab, UT during the Easter Jeep Safari. You can see more information about this vehicle at . Goodluck getting one when they do launch."Jerry Bransford" wrote in message... rubicon jeep : After talking to friends and thinking I remembered one thing true to thisday. "Jeeps are built not bought"We all need to rethink things and just go jeepin and not be so eager to outdo the other guy. Just sit back next to the camp fire while drinking a beerand talk CJ, or MJ, XJ? OR the best one the high hoods!I will be taking my $20,000 that I have saved and will be building somethingthat resembles a jeep but alot better.Neither is it bad to take advantage of the basics if they can be factoryprovided. No one in their right mind would turn down a Dana 44 upgradeif they're buying a new TJ just because they want to install it on theirown. $280 from the factory, a minimum of $900 to buy it used... ask me,I just paid $1100 for one for my TJ. Same thing with a front Dana 44axle... the factory can install it as a factory upgrade far (FAR!!!)cheaper than you can go buy a Dana 44 on your own since you've alreadypaid for the Dana 30. Buying these basics, and I call lockers and axlesthe basics, from the factory is FAR cheaper than doing them via theaftermarket... plus you get a full factory warranty on them. rubicon jeep : i assume you refer to the rubicon jeep trail that goes from wentworth springsor thereabouts to the west shore of lake tahoe. I've ridden much of it. thesection from the lake (near homewood) is pretty tame, but has some steepclimbs here and there. once you crest the summit it starts to get pretty hardcore, with huge rocks and stuff. still, it's 95% rideable or so. there's alittle section i haven't been on yet, then you get towards spider lake. fromspider lake westward is part of the "loon lake death march", so named by bobward, who apparently wasn't much of a technical rider when he named it.anyway, the section from spider lake to the slickrock playground at loon lakeis lots of boulder hopping and stuff. it's one of my favorite rides in theworld. if your skills are moderately well developed, you'll be amazed at thestuff you can ride. the loon lake ride ("death march ") starts at loon lakeand follows some sweeeeet singletrack on the south shore, then some rockyfire-road-esque stuff, then another sweeet and technical singletrack to meetup with the jeep trail. we usually do the loop in about 3 hrs, but i've heardof people taking 5-7 hrs. don't ask me what they were doing all that time.-mark weaver
